Started on a large scale 3D piece on Monday. Got a load of square-cut lengths of wood made up ranging from 150mm to 1metre. And then just got out a glue gun and just started putting it together. I wanted to create a piece that had no plan or layout design worked out beforehand because i felt it would be more fitting with my theme of remnants of the economic boom.
I wanted to be able to just add pieces to the crane as they were required without having to worry about sticking to a set pattern. In other words, if the crane started leaning one direction or was weakening in places, i would just add pieces where required.
I photographed the crane after each piece added to have a complete record of the development. But because the photos were all from a relatively similar position, i'm thinking of also making a short stop motion animation film too.
